What Happens Next?

You submitted your application. Now the state reviews it to see if you qualify. Here’s what to expect while you wait.

Most decisions come within 45 days. If your case needs a disability review, it can take up to 90 days.

Watch your mail and your kynect account for messages. The state may ask you for more documents, like proof of income or ID. Send what they ask for by the deadline in the letter. If you miss it, your application could be delayed or denied.

You can check your application status any time by logging into kynect. Write down your case number. You’ll need it if you call DCBS with questions.

When a decision is made, you’ll get a notice by mail or in kynect. If you’re approved, your Medicaid card may arrive separately. If you’re denied, the notice will explain why, and you usually have the right to appeal.
